District 21’s 2014 Legislative Report Meeting
On April 28 at 6pm at the Ada County Library, the District 21 Representatives met with constitutes to give their regular review of the actions taken in the recent 2014 Legislative Session.
Senator Cliff Bayer, Representative Steve Harris, and Representative Thomas Dayley reported on some of the important issues this year including items discussed in their committees including Joint Finance and Appropriation Committee, Education Committee and the Revenue and Taxation Committee.
The Legislators then answered questions. Some of the issues discussed included the overall state budget including education funding, Common Core, Criminal Justice Reform, Taxation and HJR 2, the “Regulatory Reform” bill. HJR 2 is one of the most important items from the Legislature this year. This bill sends a constitutional amendment to the people of Idaho for approval that will mandate legislative review of the rules of Idaho State agencies. This is explained in more detail in my Legislative Report.
This meeting was part of an ongoing effort by the Legislators to receive input regarding issues consider important to the residents of District 21.
